About me
After graduating from Union College in Schenectady NY with a degree in Economics and Spanish, I began my career in consulting only to spend my evenings and weekends pouring over the latest decorating magazines and design books. After meeting my husband and moving to Charlotte in 2004, we bought our first home and I finally had a place to experiment with my decorating ideas. Fast forward to 2011, three little boys later, I decided to launch Kathy Wilder Interiors and do what I love most - decorate.
Design philosophy
My design philosophy begins with the idea that when I'm finished with a room I don't want it to feel too planned or "decorated." I like my spaces to feel personal, collected, topping a fine antique chest with a fabulous vintage lamp. I like to hunt local shops and online retailers for the perfect mix of old and new. I tend to steer away from anything too fussy in favor of arrangements that invite people to stay a while.
My favorite things
- abstract art - unique mirrors
- natural fiber rugs - stripes
- patterned drapery - vintage lamps
- natural elements - acrylic
- colorful flatweave rugs - playful accessories
